CHANGE OF VOICE IN CASE OF PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

 



At the time of changing active voice into passive voice, subject and object are interchanged.  Helping verbs ‘has’/ ‘have’ are respectively replaced with ‘has been’ / ‘have been’. Using 3rd form of verb, subject follows ‘by’.

1.  Affirmative:

Active voice  : Subject + has/have + 3rd form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + has/have + been + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  They have made many mistakes.

     Passive voice   :  Many mistakes have been made by them.

b.  Active voice     :  Spring has forgotten this garden.

     Passive voice   :  This garden has been forgotten by spring.

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + has/have + not + 3rd form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + has/have + not + been + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :   She has not missed the bus.

     Passive voice   :  The bus has not been missed by her.

b.  Active voice     :  I have done nothing to displease you.

     Passive voice   :  Nothing has been done by me to displease you.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice  : Has/Have + subject + 3rd form of Verb + object?

Passive voice: Has/Have +object + been + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Have you done your home-work?

     Passive voice   :  Has your home-work been done by you?

b.  Active voice     :  Who has done this mischief?

     Passive voice   :  By whom has this mischief been done?
