CHANGE OF VOICE IN CASE OF PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE

At the time of changing active voice into passive voice, subject and object are interchanged. Helping verbs ‘do’/ ‘does’ are respectively replaced with ‘is’/ ‘am’/ ‘are’. Using 3rd form of verb, Subject follows ‘by’.

1.  Affirmative:

Active voice  : Subject + 1st form of Verb (s, es) + object.

Passive voice: Object + is/am/are +3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  I like this picture.

              Passive voice   :  This picture is liked by me.

b.  Active voice     :  She helps the poor.

              Passive voice   :  The poor are helped by her.

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + do/does + not + 1st form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + is/am/are + not + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  She does not sing a song.

              Passive voice   :  A song is not sung by her.

b.  Active voice     :  They do not fly kites.

              Passive voice   :  Kites are not flown by them.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice  : Do/Does + subject + 1st form of Verb + object?

Passive voiceIs/Am/Are +object + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Do you like her?

              Passive voice   :  Is she liked by you?

b.  Active voice     :  What do you want?

              Passive voice   :  What is wanted by you?
