CHANGE OF VOICE IN CASE OF FUTURE PERFECT TENSE

 



At the time of changing active voice into passive voice, subject and object are interchanged. Helping verbs ‘will have’/ ‘shall have’ are respectively replaced with ‘will have been’/ ‘shall have been’. Using 3rd form of verb, subject follows ‘by’.

1.  Affirmative:

Active voice: Subject + will/shall + have + 3rd form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + will/shall + have + been +3rd form of verb +by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  They will have solved the problem.

          Passive voice   :  The problem will have been solved by them.

b.  Active voice     :  My sister will have cooked the food.

          Passive voice   :  The food will have been cooked by my sister.

2.  Negative:

Active voice: Subject + will/shall + not + have + 3rd form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object +will/shall+not+have+been+3rd form of verb + by+ Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  We shall not have accepted such an offer.

          Passive voice   :  Such an offer will not have been accepted by us.

b.  Active voice     :  They will have not dug the well.

          Passive voice   :  The well will not have been dug by them.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice: Will/Shall + subject + have + 3rd form of Verb + object?

Passive voice: Will/Shall + object +have + been +3rd form of verb +by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Will they have taken tea by now?

          Passive voice   :  Will tea have been taken by them by now?

b.  Active voice     :  When will she have received the letter?

          Passive voice   :  When will the letter have been received by her?

     Passive voice   :  It will be done by him at once.

b.  Active voice     :  They will win the match.

     Passive voice   :  The match will be won by them.

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + will/shall + not + 1st form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + will/shall + not + be + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  I shall not take your book.

     Passive voice   :  Your book will not be taken by me.

b.  Active voice     :  He will never injure us.

     Passive voice   :  We shall never be injured by him.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice  : Will/Shall + subject + 1st form of Verb + object?

Passive voice: Will/Shall + object + be + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Will you read this book?

     Passive voice   :  Will this book be read by you?

b.  Active voice     :  Who will tell me the story?

     Passive voice   :  By whom shall I be told the story?

CHANGE OF VOICE IN CASE OF PAST PERFECT TENSE

 



At the time of changing active voice into passive voice, subject and object are interchanged. Helping verb ‘had’ is replaced with ‘had been’. Using 3rd form of verb, subject follows ‘by’.

1.  Affirmative:

Active voice  : Subject + had+ 3rd form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + had + been + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  She had washed the clothes.

Passive voice   :  The clothes had been washed by her.

b. Active voice     :  He had made a serious mistake.

Passive voice   :  A serious mistake had been made by him.

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + had +not + 3rd form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + had + not + been + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  She had never visited Agra.

     Passive voice   :  Agra had never been visited by her.

b.  Active voice     :  We had not heard the news before.

     Passive voice   :  The news had not been heard by us before.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice  : Had+ subject + 3rd form of Verb + object?

Passive voice: Had + object + been + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Had they ploughed the field?

     Passive voice   :  Had the field been ploughed by them?

b.  Active voice     :  How had you completed the job in time?

     Passive voice   :  How had the job been completed by you in time?

1.  Affirmative:

Active voice  : Subject + was/were + ing with 1st form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + was/were + being + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  Gita was making dolls.

              Passive voice   :  Dolls were being made by Gita.

b.  Active voice     :  You were holding a stick.

              Passive voice   :  A stick was being held by you.

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + was/were +not + ing with 1st form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + was/were+ not + being + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  He was not helping us.

              Passive voice   :  We were not being helped by him.

b.  Active voice     :  They were not hunting wild animals.

              Passive voice   :  Wild animals were not being hunted by them.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice  : Was/Were + subject + ing with 1st form of Verb + object?

Passive voice: Was/Were + object + being + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Were the boys singing a song?

              Passive voice   :  Was a song being sung by the boys?

b.  Active voice     :  Why were you shouting at me?

Passive voice   :  Why was I being shouted at by you?

b.  Active voice     :  The carpenter made fifty tables.

                   Passive voice   :  Fifty tables were made by the carpenter.

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + did + not + 1st form of Verb + object.

Passive voice: Object + was/were + not + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  He did not obey me.

     Passive voice   :  I was not obeyed by him.

     Passive voice   :  Has your home-work been done by you?

2.  Negative:

Active voice  : Subject + is/am/are + not + ing with 1st form of Verb + object.

Passive voice : Object + is/am/are + not+being + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject.

a.  Active voice     :  He is not reading a book.

              Passive voice   :  A book is not being read by him.

b.  Active voice     :  She is not speaking the truth.

              Passive voice   :  The truth is not being spoken by her.

3.  Interrogative:

Active voice  : Is/Am/Are + subject + ing with 1st form of Verb + object?

Passive voice: Is/Am/Are +object + being + 3rd form of verb + by + Subject?

a.  Active voice     :  Are you making a noise?

              Passive voice   :  Is a noise being made by you?

b.  Active voice     :  What are you doing?
