DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

 


_ The pronouns that refer to objects are called demonstrative pronouns. This, These, That, Those, Such, Some, One, So, Such as etc. are this kind of pronouns; as :

1_This is an old castle.                      

2_These are golden rules.                  

3_That is a ship.                      

4_Those are passengers.          

CORRECT USE OF DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

INCORRECT:

1_Such persons who do not work hard never succeed in life.

2_This is the building which I wanted to show.

3_This is your book, those are mine.

4_This is the same house which was destroyed in a fire.

5_Someone have broken these toys.

CORRECT:

1_Such persons as do not work hard never succeed in life.

2_This is the building that I wanted to show.

3_This is your book that is mine.

 

4_This is the same house as was destroyed in a fire.

5_Someone has broken these toys.
